Sounds of places: Cremisan Valley

For the LGW? 2025 edition, Ibrahim Owais, sound artist and Creative producer at the Wonder Cabinet, will lead this performance with interventions by Sounds of Places 2024 artists Alabaster DePlume and Yara Asmar.

Alabaster DePlume, with his spiritual jazz sound on saxophone, will revisit the space and time he created in the Cremisan Valley. Yara Asmar will use her instruments to play with the sounds that still remain in the valley, where her sound installation lives, while Ibrahim Owais will attempt to redraw the place in sound from that time.

“Sounds of Places” is an annual residency-based sound gathering that focuses on the sonic aesthetics of place.

Originally the idea was born as an experimental music festival in 2023, it was launched then by Wonder Cabinet in 2024 in an original revised format conceived in response to the political situation in Palestine, with a focus on the Cremisan Valley, one of the last accessible green spaces around the city of Bethlehem in Palestine.
